Microsoft Security Essentials

VirusTotal is a service developed by Hispasec Sistemas that analyzes suspicious files and URLs enabling the identification of viruses, worms, trojans and other kinds of malicious content detected by antivirus engines and web analysis tool bars. It requires that you submit files and URL’s to the site for examination. This is not a virus program that will eliminate a virus but it will check whatever you send in the most comprehensive manner possible.

Adobe

Most people don’t know it but Adobe does have some settings you can change for Flash.

It is done through a web page at: http://www.macromedia.com/su…

The setting pages looks like a graphic but it actually works. As always, be careful when changing any settings.

HIBERFIL.SYS

For desktop computers most people do not use the hibernate mode.  For this reason I will tell you how to disable it and get rid of the hiberfil.sys file in one command.  This is meant for Windows 7 users.

The first thing you need to do is get to a command prompt window in Administrator mode.  There is a CMD options under All Programs/Accessories if you press the Ctrl key when you click this you will have started it in Administrator mode.  you will see a black screen with a C:\ prompt.  At this prompt you will want to type “powercfg -h off” without the quotes.  If it works correctly you will just get another C:\ prompt.  At this point you have both disabled it and deleted the file from your hard disk.

Do not do this if you use the hibernate mode that windows provides as it shuts it off.  You can tell if it worked corectly because hibernate will no longer be a option for shutting down your computer.
